🎄Ahhh the holidays... They're on their way, and while it's supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year, many of us find ourselves running on caffeine and chaos instead of calm and connection. Between shopping lists, social events, school concerts, and work deadlines, it's easy to fall into holiday overdrive... checking boxes instead of actually feeling the season.
But what if this year could be different? What if you could enjoy the magic and stay sane doing it? Let’s talk about how to shift your mindset (and your energy) so you can savor the season. 🌟
Embrace the Holiday Spirit
Aren't the holidays meant to be a time for celebration, connection, and creating lasting memories with family and friends? To embrace this spirit, it’s important to start with the right mindset. So, instead of treating the holidays like a checklist of tasks, view them as a chance to spread joy and love.
According to a recent survey, 65% of people enjoy baking holiday treats with their family, while 54% look forward to decorating the tree. So, whether it’s baking cookies with your kids, decorating the tree... or doing whatever it is that YOU love, concentrate on these moments. Embracing the fun in these simple activities can make the hustle feel less daunting and much more enjoyable.
Joy isn’t what you earn after your to-do list is done... it’s what fuels you through it.
Mindset Tip - Schedule one just for fun moment each week:
Movie night with the kids 🎬
Cocoa or cocktail with a friend ☕
A candle-lit moment of peace after dinner🕯️
A quiet minute by the tree before anyone wakes up 🌲
Anything you can think of that will bring you personal joy 😁
☕Try a Cozy Beverage: Warm Vanilla Chai Latte
When you need a moment to breathe (and warm your soul), try this simple recipe:
Ingredients:
1 Favorite vanilla chai teabag (I didn't say it's from scratch!)
A drizzle of honey
A little sugar if you like it sweet
A splash of milk (regular or oat milk works great too!)
Sprinkle of cinnamon
Instructions:
Pour hot water on your teabag and steep for 3 mins
Add honey (and a little sugar if desired)
Pour in milk and mix until creamy (a frother works great too)
Sprinkle cinnamon on top and enjoy slowly, ideally in your coziest mug.
This is your pause moment in a busy day.
Breathe in the warmth. Exhale the rush.
🎁 Holiday Grab-and-Gift Idea
Do grab gifts stress you out? If you're looking for an easy holiday gift that feels personal, create a cozy gift bundle...it's sweet, simple, and thoughtful. As you can tell from my cozy beverage recipe, I love a warm cup of vanilla chai tea. This is where I got the inspiration for my grab gift idea. You can mix and match so many items around a warm beverage. Some of my favorites are below 👇🏼
Cozy Gift Bundle Ideas:
✨ Handheld frother (you can find cute ones for $10)
✨ Hot Cocoa / Ground Coffee / Tea
✨ Mini Marshmallows / Flavored Syrup / Jar of Honey
✨ Peppermint Sticks / Cinnamon Sticks
✨ Festive mug
✨ Throw Blanket
✨ Soft Pajamas
Depending on who you're gifting for, you could add a side of Baileys Irish Cream or another flavored favorite, I promise I won't judge! ... I might even join you 😉
Give Yourself a Little Holiday TLC
In the midst of the holiday chaos, carving out time for self-care is vital. Remember, you can’t pour from an empty cup. Schedule some me time, whether it’s savoring that quiet cup of tea by the tree, heading outdoors for a walk, or even indulging in a long shower (using the good shampoo!). Research shows that dedicating just 15 minutes a day to self-care can significantly lift your mood and reduce stress levels. Make yourself a priority, your future self will thank you.
Ditch Perfect. Choose Present.
It's easy to want everything to be picture perfect during the holidays, but this can lead to unnecessary stress. This year, make the choice to embrace imperfection and be present in all your experiences. It's the laughs, the love, the baking, the kitchen messes, the wrapping paper everywhere, and the togetherness because that is what truly matters.... not Instagram-worthy decor, flawless holiday dinners, spotless houses or crisp corners on every present. If those things come naturally to you... then amazing, keep shining! But if not, pick whatever makes your holidays feel easier and more carefree. Trust me on this one.
Connections: The Real Holiday Magic
Don’t forget to connect with friends and family during this busy time. A simple phone call or text can brighten someone’s day and strengthen these important relationships. And if in-person gatherings aren't possible, try organizing a virtual get together. I know, I know, we're trying to get off of electronics, but in busy times like these that short half-hour of actually seeing smiling faces, telling stories, and laughing, can make your holiday season feel even more special.
Find the Joy (Even in the Chaos)
As the holidays approach, know that you CAN find joy and sanity amidst the hustle. Remember to focus on what truly matters in the moment, prioritize self-care, and accept the imperfections of the season ...because with intention and focus, it can be the most wonderful time of the year💫
