Summer 2026 Survival Guide for Busy Women: Mindset Tips, Easy Recipes & Family Fun

Every year, summer arrives with so much promise.

We're going to spend more time outside.

Take the family to the beach.

Finally organize the garage.

Drink enough water.

Read those books.

Go on adventures.

Start that hobby.

See friends.

Relax.

Then somewhere around the second week of July, we're standing in the kitchen wondering who ate the popsicles, why there are seventeen beach towels in the laundry, and how we're somehow out of snacks… again.

If summer feels a little less like a Hallmark movie and a little more like organized chaos, welcome. You're in good company.

One of my favorite mindset reminders...

Summer isn't something you have to perform. It's something you get to experience.

And experience looks different for everyone.

Maybe you're working from home while your kids turn snack requests into a full-time job. Maybe you're commuting to work while coordinating camps, babysitters, and grandparents. Maybe your kids are older and more independent.

Maybe you're an empty nester. Maybe you don't have children and finally have a little extra time to focus on yourself.

No matter what your summer looks like, let this be your permission slip to enjoy it.

The Summer Bucket List Trap

Can I let you in on a little secret? You don't have to do everything. Some of my kids' favorite summer memories weren't expensive vacations or elaborate outings.

They were the simple things:

Movie nights.

Backyard picnics.

Neighborhood walks.

Ice cream after dinner.

And one of my personal favorites…The backyard spa.

One of My Favorite Summer Mom Memories

When my kids were little, I'd fill up a big plastic storage bin with bubbly water and let them hop in wearing their bathing suits. They thought it was the greatest bath time ever created.

Some days we'd make it even fancier and have a spa day. I'd fill the tub with bubbly water, set out a few lawn chairs, and we'd soak our feet while painting our nails. We'd make fun drinks, snack on cheese and crackers, and for an hour or two, our backyard felt like a five-star resort.

Looking back, I don't think my kids remember whether we spent money. I think they remember that we spent time. Honestly, that's a good reminder for me too.

Backyard Summer Spa Ideas:

✨ Plastic storage bin or kiddie pool for foot soaks.

✨ Nail polish in silly summer colors.

✨ Cheese, crackers, fruit, and simple snacks.

✨ Music playing in the background.

✨ Fancy plastic cups for special drinks.

✨ Ten minutes of laughing together.

PRO TIP: Put the bin of water out in the sun for a couple of hours to make it warm.

Backyard Spa Shirley Temple:

Making memories doesn't have to be complicated. Our backyard spa favorite is simple.

🍹Fill a fancy plastic glass with ice.

🍹Add about an ounce of grenadine.

🍹Top with mostly Lemon-Lime soda and a splash of ginger ale.

🍹Add a few maraschino cherries.

🍹Garnish with a slice of lime.

PRO TIP: Sip slowly and pretend you're at a luxury resort instead of sitting in a lawn chair next to a plastic storage bin. Seriously though... the kids won't know the difference.

And... I know.. I know... soda is not good for them or you... but once in a while it can turn an average day into a special event.

For the Mom Working Remotely This Summer

Working from home with kids deserves Olympic-level recognition. You're answering emails while someone asks for a snack. You're on Zoom while someone can't find their flip-flops. You're trying to concentrate while hearing, Mom? every few minutes.

Mindset Shift:

You don't have to do two full-time jobs perfectly. Create simple rhythms.

A morning connection.

A snack station kids can reach themselves.

A quiet hour for reading or coloring.

PRO TIP: A frozen waffle for lunch once in a while isn't a parenting failure... it's resourcefulness.

For the Mom Heading Into the Office

Summer logistics deserve their own project manager between..

☀️Camp drop-offs.

☀️Vacation schedules.

☀️Sports.

☀️Childcare.

☀️Grandparents.

☀️Unexpected schedule changes.

Mindset Shift:

Good enough is often more than enough. Your kids won't remember whether every day was magical. They'll remember backyard laughs, beach days, ice cream after dinner, and you being happy to see them at the end of the day.

PRO TIP: Release the pressure to make every moment extraordinary. Ordinary moments count too.

For Women with a Little Extra Time This Summer

Maybe the kids are older. Maybe they're away at camp. Maybe you're an empty nester. Maybe you've finally created a little breathing room. Whatever the case may be...

Instead of asking,

What should I do?

Try asking,

What would feel fun?

Read a book.

Plant flowers.

Watch a sunset.

Take an evening walk.

Take yourself out to lunch.

Meet a friend for coffee or tea.

Learn something new.

PRO TIP: Summer doesn't have to be productive to be meaningful. Joy counts too.

Summer Snacks Made Easy

A few simple favorites:

🍉 Watermelon cubes (add feta and mint if desired)

🍓 Frozen grapes and strawberries.

🥒 Veggies and hummus.

🫐 Greek yogurt with berries and granola.

🍎 Apple slices with peanut butter.

🍿 Popcorn with parmesan.

And yes…

Ice cream absolutely counts as a summer food group. I'm pretty sure that's science.

One Simple Summer Dinner

Sheet Pan Lemon Chicken & Veggies

Toss together:

Chicken breasts or thighs.

Baby potatoes.

Green beans.

Olive oil.

Juice from one lemon.

Italian seasoning.

Garlic powder.

Salt and pepper.

Bake at 400 degrees for about 35 minutes or when chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 F/ 74 C..

Serve with a salad or crusty bread.

Minimal prep.

Minimal dishes.

Maximum summer energy.

A Little Summer Mindset Shift

Many of us start summer asking,

How am I going to fit everything in?

But what if we asked,

How do I want to feel this summer?

Calm.

Connected.

Playful.

Peaceful.

Present.

Adventurous.

When we focus on how we want to feel, our choices naturally begin to align with that vision. So, instead of creating a packed calendar…We create a meaningful season. It's a small shift, but small shifts create big changes.

A Little Reminder from Me to You

You don't have to have the perfect vacation.

You don't have to entertain everyone every minute.

You don't have to lose ten pounds before wearing the swimsuit.

You don't have to say yes to every invitation.

You don't have to earn rest.

Summer isn't a competition.

It's a season.

You get to enjoy it too.

Feeling the Summer Pressure Already?

If you're already feeling the pressure of having the kids home for summer break…

If you're anxious you won't squeeze in everything you want to do…

If you're juggling work, family, responsibilities, and trying not to lose yourself in the process…

I'd love to invite you to join me for Summer Balance & Ease.

Together, we'll slow down, reconnect with what matters most, uncover the subconscious patterns creating unnecessary stress, and create a summer that feels a little lighter and a lot more aligned.

✨ Join me for the Summer Balance & Ease experience either in-person or virtually.... the virtual option will have a replay.

You don't have to push through the season.

Let's create a summer that feels good.

I hope to see you there.
